Very vintage Burmese jadeite well carved "Monkey rides Elephant" pendant, large like a small carving. The monkey is a wonderful symbol of intelligence, the elephant represents strength. The monkey riding on top of an elephant will enhance its owners' persistence, determination, and strive towards his or her goals. There is a "coin" carved at Monkey's head where a multi color silk cord is attached, and can be replaced with a bail for a necklace chain. Size is 59 mm high, 34 mm wide and 18 mm thick. The Coin represents "Abundance". It is well carved all around, very detailed. The jade carver studies the stone, then when it was auspicious he did the carving to make the best use of this green color with "hong" blood red veins. It is heavy and substantial like a small jade carving.
Photo taken in natural outdoor light at different angles so you can see how it looks all around.
Purchased in China during our jade shopping trip in 2002 from a Chinese estate sale, it was carved and owned in the Qing Dynasty era.
Tested by refraction, genuine Burmese jadeite.
